Film Meter APP Instructions

Instructions.

Thanks for participating in testing our film meter app

The primary purpose of this app is to have increased functionality that actually helps the experiance of film photography by creating features that actually help both those that are novices but those that have spent to much on film like me.

The ISO is locked unless you hold down for 3 seconds (This is longer than you think)
We believe that this should not be adjusted all the time but would like feedback on how long it should be.
This feature was built in as I often had issues with my light meter app moving the iso in my phone and causing me to incorrectly meter the scene

Known issues with the app if your screen blows out white you are selecting out speciality modes

You will see the sun icon is off. These speciality modes are still a work in progress and are preset values for specific lighting conditions.

If this happens turn on the sun icon and it will go back to normal.

We have a control mode vs simple mode. We have not fully thought out the difference.
So we would love some suggestions.

You will also find in the settings menu control for different metering patters and angles.

Have a go at the different modes. Also be aware of the acceptance angles. Different angles will take in different readings a 1 percent angle had a very narrow field. Whereas a 30 degree angle will take in more information and give a wider reading value.

You can add film stocks into your metering. Whilst some like to claim this make a super difference (it does)
What our app does is calculate for recposity failure when the shutter time exceeded the films reciprocity failure ie if the Kodak Portra is exposed for 8 seconds it will need to be exposed for 10 seconds because of reciprocity failure.

Distance meter this app has a distance meter. It does not work on all devices.
Only the pro series model. We have turned off the feature for non pro models automatically.
This uses lidar technology to judge the distance. I have tested it against against a measuring tape and it is fairly accurate but not perfect ie judging exactly what your phone is pointing at there maybe a degree of difference. We are also not sure of its exact limitation. We know up to 5 meters its extremely accurate but the fall off we are still investigating.

Though often we do see it meter long distances just fine

When it comes to metering multiple objects sometimes it works

Sometimes it doesn’t work on the 2nd or 3rd spot. (We are unsure why)

Message me if you any issues. We will be sending a survey out shortly with a questionare for you to fill in.

I do really appreciate any feedback and you assisting me with this app
